Introduction

We would like to thank everyone who stopped by our booth at the CIGRE exposition in Paris and at the ASCE/SEI conference in Omaha. The ASCE/SEI conference was a great opportunity to learn from a wide variety of transmission line design experts. We highly recommend this conference and will be participating in future meetings. If you were unable to meet with us in Paris or Omaha, you will have another chance at the user group meeting in Austin on November 11-12. Please note that while you are responsible for your own travel arrangements, the meeting itself is free of charge.

Program Progress

We are now shipping PLS-POLE version 5.41 with base plate analysis and design as per the 2002 edition of ASCE manual 72 (still pending release). See the base plate section of the PLS-POLE manual for details. We have also improved the graphics in PLS-POLE by adding wood grain, steel and concrete textures for more realistic looking structures.

The latest version of TOWER includes several new features to assist in the design of a tower family. The File/Analyze Multiple Models command allows running of multiple models with a single command. The Model/Create Group Summary Super Set command generates a group summary table and report that incorporates results from all these runs. These two commands greatly reduce the amount of time it takes to analyze and design a tower family.

We have also added or updated a number of features in PLS-CADD:

Current Versions

The current shipping versions of our software are listed below.

We strongly encourage you to upgrade to the current shipping release of all the applications you own. To do so please send us email at info@powline.com or use the Help/Download Upgrade command. This would also be a good time to use the Help/Check for Updated Manual command to make sure you have the latest edition of the manuals.

As always, we welcome your suggestions and comments on our software.
