Year In Review

2001 was another record setting year for Power Line Systems both in terms of sales and improvements across our product line. We released version 5 of PLS-CADD featuring substantial productivity enhancements like undo, online help, separate swing/loading calculations for each phase, unbalanced loading criteria and much more. With the recent release of new versions of CAISSON and SFOOTING we are happy to announce that all our applications now have online help and electronic users manuals.

In 2001, we also introduced the PLS Online Library. The library contains a number of files you can use to facilitate the creation of PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and TOWER projects. The library currently contains:

We would like to welcome the many new clients who have joined us this year. These include RTE, EDF's Transmission System Operator, responsible for the French national grid; the Southern Companies, which provide power to much of the South Eastern United States and the following new PLS-CADD users:

Thank you for choosing Power Line Systems and continuing to make us the industry standard in line design software. We appreciate your confidence and look forward to working with all of you in the New Year.

PLS-CADD Progress

This past quarter we focused on the 2002 NESC, finite element sag-tension, improved clearance commands and an updated users manual:

PLS-POLE and TOWER Improvements

Both programs now draw equipment so that it shows up on final drawings and clearances can be measured to it. TOWER has some new rotated symmetry options that make modeling towers using certain bracing patterns much quicker. We continue to track TIA/EIA 222-G, which should be ratified in 2002. We expect to release "G compliant" versions of PLS-POLE and TOWER immediately after its adoption. In addition to the Thomas & Bett's "LD" pole library that has been available for some time, the Valmont "SW" steel pole library is now available in our Online Library. Finally, a new PLS-POLE manual can be downloaded using the Help/Check for Updated Manual command. A new TOWER manual will be available later this quarter.

Training Opportunities

We currently have the following classes scheduled for 2002:

Additional classes will be added later in the year.

We also have a new Microsoft signed hardware key driver for all versions of Windows. Please note that the new versions of CAISSON and SFOOTING have online manuals/help.

Closing Remarks

We strongly encourage you to upgrade to the current shipping release of all the applications you own. To do so please send us email at info@powline.com. This would also be a good time to use the Help/Check for Updated Manual command to make sure you have the latest edition of the manuals.
