2005 Program Improvements

At Power Line Systems we continually improve our software. Below we list some of the more significant enhancements made during the year 2005. Click here for improvements made in 2004 or here for the most recent enhancements.

PLS-CADD^™

• New graphical annotation commands and Annotation Toolbar to make addition of text or line notes faster and easier
• Vastly improved graphical section selection for all section commands in PLS-CADD and improved graphical clearance commands that snap to wire
• Added options for generating loads on wires and structures by Russia 7th Edition, Statnett (Norway) and ASCE 74-2006
• Terrain/Clearance Line now has the capability to display clearance lines for multiple weather cases and voltages
• Added an additional metric unit system: SI (N force)
• Added the View/Edit Customizations/Custom Toolbar command that allows creation of a custom toolbar
• When a missing file is detected the Project Repair Wizard now runs and helps you locate the missing file instead of displaying the "could not find file" error message
• Windows XP x64 Edition now supported - PLS-CADD can access 4GB of RAM (twice as much as previously possible) under this version of Windows
• Added ability to specify pole deflection limits and check them
• File/Export DXF now preserves PLS-CADD fonts and fonts used in DXF attachments
• File/Export DXF now includes attached images in the export
• Added option for generating loads on wires and structures by ESAA C(b)1-2003 (Australia)
• Added Drafting/Attachments/Image Info command that graphically selects raster attachments and provides easy access to image details, show and hide commands, etc.
• JPEG 2000 (.jp2) images can now be attached to PLS-CADD projects
• TIN memory requirements have been reduced by a factor of three
• Can now model Gap type conductors

PLS-POLE^™

• New graphical annotation commands and Annotation Toolbar to make addition of text or line notes faster and easier
• Added loading options for ASCE 74-2006
• Added the View/Edit Customizations/Custom Toolbar command that allows creation of a custom toolbar
• When a missing file is detected the Project Repair Wizard now runs and helps you locate the missing file instead of displaying the "could not find file" error message
• Data input tables now feature real time graphics preview and model checking
• Windows XP x64 Edition now supported (PLS-POLE runs as a 32bit program)
• Can now check pole deflection limits and optimize a steel pole shaft considering these limits
• Automated microwave antenna loading as per EIA/TIA 222-F and G
• Added loading option for ESAA C(b)1-2003 (Australia)

• Numerous optimization improvements including the capability to optimize a family of lattice towers at once

• Can now check Crossing Diagonals according to a number of different methods
• Added a connection inspector that allows a visual QA of connection information
