At Power Line Systems we continually improve our software. Below we list some of the more significant enhancements made during the year 2013. Click here for improvements made in 2012 or here for the most recent enhancements.

Added LiDAR Tools to automate classification of data and finding of structure centroids and attachments points (see the video tutorial)
Added support for generating loads as per EN50341-1:2012.
Can now check galloping ellipses as per the AESO (Alberta Electric Systems Operator/Havard) method and added inputs for span length at which to switch between single loop and double loop and required separation between ellipses
Can now lock tangent structure positions when editing the alignment (adding, moving or deleting PIs)
XML Export now includes 24 additional tables and a new command, File/Export/XML Settings, to control what is exported

Major improvements to Sections/Table/Find Graph Sag Fit Points
Implemented advanced inter-process communication between PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE/TOWER that dramatically speeds up Lines/Reports/Structure Usage and other structure related operations.
Performance improvements across the board from material to FE sag-tension to drawing.
Now support prestressing conductors (as described in this technical note).
Custom toolbars extended to allow up to four custom toolbars and can now display icons or text. Icons are available for ~200 commands in all programs.
New ECW library for faster and more robust loading of images.
Code support improved: added IS802, EN50341-1-2012, CAN/CSA-C22.3 No. 60826-10, and options for existing IEC60826:2003 and EN50341-3-9 implementations.

Added a STL Export command which produces a STereoLithography ".stl" file that can be used with 3D printers.

All multi-file operations (Batch Modify, Analyze Multiple Models, Lines/Reports/Structure Usage from PLS-CADD, etc.) sped up by factor of 25-250%
Now draw ground with translucent circles and show embedded portions of poles.
Equipment may now be offset to the face of a pole, can be shifted up/down relative to attachment and rotates with attachment in the deformed geometry view.
Can now model laminated wood poles from McFarland Cascade through addition of four new laminated pole types: SYP and CDF for both Raked and Tangent applications.
FRP poles can now be built out of user defined tubes (for Shakespeare and the new Duratel libraries) in addition to predefined modules (RS libraries).
