Spring Forward

We are welcoming Spring with the release of PLS-CADD version 10. This marks the first production release of a native 64 bit edition of our software. The x64 Edition extends the capabilities of PLS-CADD to encompass models of virtually unlimited size. To complement this new capability, we have invested heavily in making the rest of the program, from drawing on the screen to saving your project, scale gracefully to 100+ million point files.

In addition to enabling larger projects, we have added Cigre options for thermal rating (Brochure 207) and galloping ellipses (Report 322). We've also added the ability to display galloping ellipses in the 3D view and can report on the percent overlap between ellipses when there is a violation. Finally, most reports that list coordinates can now be exported to Google Earth for easy sharing with others. These include the: Construction Staking Report, Leg and Guy Extension Report, P.I. Report, Vegetation Analysis Report, Structure Coordinates Report, Terrain Clearances by Span Report and Terrain Clearances by Survey Point Report.

Version 10 delivers the first installment in what will be a series of materials system improvements. These include modernizing the user interface, increasing the maximum stock number length and allowing use of User Defined Columns with assemblies. Look for additional enhancements as we work towards version 11 and please do not hesitate to email us any suggestions for further improvements.

For more information on these and other version 10 improvements please see the Recent Program Improvements web page or download the PLS-CADD version 10 manual using the Help/Check for Updated Manual command.

It is likely that this will be the last version to support Windows 2000. We recommend you run Windows XP x64 or Vista x64 so that you may take advantage of the enormous investment we have made in the x64 Edition.
