Version 11 Released!

We are proud to release PLS-CADD Version 11 with 60 noteworthy improvements. We do not have space to describe all of them here, but a complete change log will be included with your upgrade. The improvements are spread throughout the program so that there is something for everyone whether you are a surveyor, drafter, vegetation manager, construction manager, distribution staking engineer or line designer. Version 11 completes the material improvements discussed at our last User's Group Meeting, including the addition of state information (Retire, Existing, New, Transfer), conductor specific material (variable parts), built-in labor and extensive user defined cost factors. Also included is the new Project Estimator which provides a way to include other project related costs such as permitting, right-of-way purchasing and preparation, engineering and construction management, sales tax, contingency, and insurance. The Project Estimator can be used to add these costs to an existing line design in PLS-CADD or as a standalone tool without even modeling your line in PLS-CADD. Finally, several LiDAR specific features have been added in response to the NERC Alert. These features make modeling of lines in PLS-CADD using LiDAR quicker than ever before.

Classes and Events

Due to the overwhelming popularity of our last Advanced Training class last January, we have scheduled another one that will occur in just two weeks. Using PLS-CADD with LiDAR Data to Meet NERC FAC-008 Requirements will be held May 3-5, 2011 in Madison, Wisconsin. At this time, space is unlimited but we must have your registrations soon in order to confirm the final arrangements. If you are at all involved with LiDAR, NERC Rating, or just want to learn more than is offered during the basic classes, this is the class that you must attend.

With the IEEE T&D Expo and ASCE ETS Conferences both coming in 2012, the big industry event this year is our Advanced Training and User Group (ATUG) in Madison, Wisconsin, July 19 - 21, 2011. The event is free to attend, but registration is required. Please see the 2011 PLS-CADD Advanced Training and User Group Meeting web page for details on the event and registration. We are still putting together the program so if you have any topics you would like to present or to see presented, please let us know.

Unfortunately, our 2011 TOWER class is now full. Please let us know if you would like to be added to the waitlist and be notified of the next class.
